<image:title>About - Gillian J. Blomquist</image:title>
<image:caption>Partner gillian@wbfamilylaw.com (763) 447-6802 Attorney Gillian J. Blomquist is a partner with Wermerskirchen & Blomquist. Her commitment to family law started in 1998, working as a paralegal for a prominent St. Paul family law attorney and for the Hennepin County Domestic Abuse Service Center. Gillian has been a practicing attorney since 2004 and has extensive experience in all stages of family law cases from negotiations, settlement conferences, mediations, SENEs, FENEs, custody evaluations, motion hearings, evidentiary hearings, and trials. Gillian believes that an attorney’s role is to provide realistic expectations based on the law, to consider creative ways to solve complex problems, and to reduce client stress by acting as a steady guide through difficult times. Gillian graduated from the Honors College at Arizona State University and then obtained a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Minnesota, Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs. She returned to Arizona State University for her law degree, where she was a member of the Arizona State Law Journal and a William H. Pedrick scholar. Gillian’s legal career started as an Assistant Attorney General with the State of Arizona working on child protection matters. Upon returning to Minnesota, she spent time working for the 10th Judicial District as a Guardian ad Litem advocating for children in juvenile and family court. Prior to focusing her practice on family law, Gillian handled matters as diverse as estate planning, probate, bankruptcy, and guardianship. Gillian continues to assist families, particularly single parents, with their estate planning needs. Gillian completed extensive training in mediation, SENE, and FENE evaluations. She is a volunteer Guardian ad Litem for vulnerable adults for the 4th Judicial District. She volunteers for Children’s Law Center as an attorney for children in child protection cases. She volunteers for Tubman helping clients advocate for themselves in family court matters. Gillian is a member of the Minnesota Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, Minnesota Women Lawyers, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and American Bar Association. She has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer since 2020. Gillian spends her time away from the practice of law with her family of 6, spoiling her dogs and cats, and running.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Kyle T. Wermerskirchen</image:title>
<image:caption>Partner kyle@wbfamilylaw.com (763) 447-6801 Attorney Kyle T. Wermerskirchen brings to family law a broad based background and wide perspective that helps him understand people from all walks of life. He has argued before the Minnesota Supreme Court, litigated jury trials in federal and state court, and appeared in over 25 counties across Minnesota. “In family law, I can help individuals in distress and can have a helpful, direct and immediate impact,” says Kyle. “I have a broad perspective when meeting new people. One of the things I love about family law is that I get to help real people deal with very real, very significant issues in their lives.” Kyle believes the first priority in any family law matter is to get to know the client and to understand the client’s unique situation and needs. He says, “I believe communication is the key to successful outcomes in cases. I begin my free consultations with a simple question: What do you want to achieve in this case?” I need to know what my client’s expectations, and give them a realistic assessment of outcomes. I also want each client to know what the timeline of the case will be, and the most efficient options for resolving the case. Once mechanisms are in place that allow the client to continue functioning, he gets to work preparing his case. “I gather the information necessary to advance the case to trial, with the hope that the case may settle,” says Kyle. “I practice cooperatively to the extent possible- I don’t want to create an unnecessary conflict. But I approach each case as if it were going to trial. My experience has been that this approach actually promotes settlement.” Kyle Wermerskirchen represents clients in divorce and legal separations, custody and paternity cases, orders for protection, parenting plan modifications, child support modifications, QDROs, contempt proceedings, and enforcement actions on post decree property issues. Kyle and his wife enjoy the considerable job of managing their two children, who are active with school, activities, and general tomfoolery. When he gets the chance, he likes to explore new restaurants or get outdoors — but mostly ends chasing his youngsters or tending to his energetic yellow lab.</image:caption>
